This move solidifies Arapahoe Basin’s reputation for offering the longest ski season in Colorado, especially following the closure of Copper Mountain last weekend. While the resort will be closed during the week, the weekend schedule offers skiers and snowboarders a final opportunity to hit the slopes. The resort has confirmed that lift tickets for this closing weekend will be priced at $39 (£29) and will feature live music at the base area.

Regarding terrain, the resort clarified that beginner runs will not be available. However, guests can expect a variety of intermediate and advanced options. The extension comes as a timely response to a forecast of fresh snow, with models suggesting that some parts of the mountain could receive up to 45cm of accumulation.

Arapahoe Basin is not the only North American destination keeping its lifts spinning. As reported by PlanetSKI, several other resorts continue to operate, including Snowbird in Utah, Mammoth Mountain in California, Timberline Lodge in Oregon, and Jay Peak in Vermont.

In Canada, Sunshine Village near Banff is also capitalizing on a historic season. Having recorded nearly 1000cm of snowfall, the resort has announced plans to offer summer skiing on the Strawberry lift and potentially others from June 20th through July 5th. This follows their upcoming Slush Cup event, which continues to draw crowds for late-season festivities.
