Scotland is experiencing some of its best ski conditions in recent years, with significant snowfall across the Highlands. According to PlanetSKI, the Scottish ski areas are poised for a fantastic half-term holiday period, thanks to the ongoing cold snap.

Here's a look at the conditions at some of the major Scottish ski resorts:

  • Cairngorm: Described as the "pick of the bunch," Cairngorm boasts exceptional snow cover that has accumulated during the January storms. PlanetSKI’s Scotland reporting team, Rod and Dianne Frazer, noted the impressive snow drifts leading up to the car park and the wide, open snowfields available both on and off-piste.
  • Glenshee: This resort in the East is also enjoying great cover and is expected to be popular during the holiday period due to its proximity to Edinburgh and Dundee.
  • The Lecht: Located further up the 'Snow Road,' The Lecht is reported to have a pretty good base of snow.
  • Glencoe: Offering great skiing on the mid and upper mountain, Glencoe is hoping for more snow to freshen up the lower runs.
  • Nevis Range: While Nevis Range has superb cover higher up, it is currently closed Monday to Wednesday. However, it is expected to be a worthwhile destination for weekend visitors.

PlanetSKI expresses hope that the weather will cooperate, allowing the Highland ski areas to maximize this busy period. They also suggest that settled spring weather typically provides the best opportunities to enjoy Scottish skiing.

The report from PlanetSKI indicates a positive outlook for Scottish skiing, with many resorts offering excellent conditions and anticipating a busy and successful holiday period. Skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to check the latest conditions and opening times before visiting.
