According to the latest data from OnTheSnow, Palisades Tahoe is navigating the final stretch of its winter season with 11 of its 39 lifts currently in operation. As of April 22, the resort is providing access to 628 acres of skiable terrain, maintaining a mix of machine-groomed and variable spring conditions.

Current Snowpack and Operations

Reported conditions show a notable contrast between the base levels and the high alpine. While the mid-mountain base sits at 3 inches, the summit is holding a more substantial 61-inch snowpack. This represents approximately 5% of the average depth for this time of year, which typically sees closer to 58 inches at the summit. Guests should expect variable conditions as the resort works to maintain coverage across its remaining open runs.

Resort Context

Located in the Sierra Nevada, Palisades Tahoe is recognized as California’s largest ski resort. The property consists of two interconnected mountains—Palisades and Alpine—linked by the Base to Base Gondola. With a total infrastructure of 36 lifts and 270 marked trails, the resort is designed to cater to a diverse range of abilities, from beginner learning zones to expert-level terrain.

Historically, the resort benefits from an annual average of 402 inches of snowfall, which allows for an extended season. The current operations are slated to continue until the projected closing date of May 25. Visitors planning to visit during this late-season window are encouraged to monitor weather forecasts, as spring conditions can shift rapidly under the California sun.
